A still shot that lasted forever in the movie, but I was still riveted every second. I must admit: if it’d been a guy less good-looking than Fassbender, I might have found the length of that……… shot…….. tedious.

(I remain convinced that Fassbender’s attractiveness is an integral part of the role, as it makes it so easy to question whether his addiction is merely a male fantasy or a substantial difficulty… which itself is part of the point. What happens when you really get what everyone supposedly wants? What happens when you’re living The American Dream but it’s really more living you? Just because you think you’re holding it together against your addiction, does that mean you have a life? This movie can come out on DVD any time now…)
